Actor’s Car Runs Over Labourers Working On Metro Project In Mumbai, 1 Dies

A tragic incident occurred on Friday night in Mumbai’s Kandivli area when a car owned by popular Marathi actor Urmila Kothare (formerly known as Urmila Kanetkar) ran over two labourers working on a Metro project, resulting in one death and severe injuries to the other.

According to the police, Kothare was returning home after completing a shoot when the car, a Hyundai Verna, lost control near Poisar Metro station. The vehicle was reportedly being driven at high speed when it veered off course and struck two labourers working on the site.

One of the labourers was declared dead at the scene, while the other was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The driver of the car also sustained serious injuries. Kothare, who was in the car at the time of the accident, fortunately escaped with only minor injuries, thanks to the timely deployment of the airbag.

The police have registered a case against the driver under several sections, including rash driving and causing death by negligence. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, and Kothare is cooperating with the police.

This tragic event highlights the ongoing risks faced by those working on major infrastructure projects, and the need for improved safety measures on construction sites and surrounding areas.

Urmila Kothare is a well-known actress in the Marathi film industry, recognized for her roles in numerous successful films and TV shows. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many expressing condolences for the families of the victims.
