Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan was seen visibly upset at the paparazzi while attending the funeral of legendary actor Manoj Kumar on Friday. The funeral, held at Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu, Mumbai, saw several celebrities in attendance, including Abhishek and his father, superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
A video that surfaced online captured the moment Abhishek lost his temper with the media after paying his final respects to the late veteran. As the father-son duo was making their way to their car, paparazzi continued to click photos despite the somber occasion. Abhishek, trailing behind his father, appeared frustrated and pushed away a camera pointed at him. He also approached one of the photographers and exchanged a few stern words before leaving the venue.
While Abhishek was visibly upset, Amitabh Bachchan was seen greeting veteran screenwriter and producer Salim Khan. The two exchanged pleasantries, shared a hug, and held hands briefly in a moment of warmth. Abhishek, too, greeted Salim Khan with a hug before heading toward his car. Both actors were dressed in white kurta-pyjamas paired with black jackets, in keeping with the traditional attire for mourning.
Final Farewell to a Legend
Manoj Kumar, known for his patriotic roles and direction in classics like Upkar and Purab Aur Paschim, passed away on April 4 at the age of 87 due to age-related complications. He breathed his last at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. The veteran actor was cremated with full state honours, including a three-gun salute.
The funeral witnessed an outpouring of grief from the film fraternity. Celebrities such as Zayed Khan, Prem Chopra, Raza Murad, Arbaaz Khan, and others were present to bid their final goodbye. Kumar’s wife, Shashi Goswami, was seen in tears, with emotional videos from the ceremony leaving fans heartbroken and offering prayers for the family’s strength.
Abhishek Bachchan’s Upcoming Projects
On the work front, Abhishek Bachchan was last seen in Be Happy, directed by Remo D’Souza. In the film, he portrayed a single father who learns to dance to support his daughter’s aspirations. His heartfelt performance was well-received by critics.
The actor is next slated to appear in the multi-starrer Housefull 5, alongside Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, and Jackie Shroff. The film is expected to hit theatres later this year. Additionally, Abhishek is reportedly set to take on a negative role in King, directed by Siddharth Anand, which stars Shah Rukh Khan in the lead.
As emotions ran high at the funeral, the incident involving Abhishek and the paparazzi sparked debate online, with many social media users sympathizing with the actor for reacting to what they called “insensitive behaviour” during a moment of mourning.
