Superstar Aamir Khan is all set to return to the big screen with Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual sequel to his critically acclaimed 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. The actor shared the first look poster of the upcoming film, generating immense buzz and emotional anticipation among fans. The movie, directed by R. S. Prasanna, is scheduled to hit theatres on June 20.
The newly released poster showcases Aamir Khan as a basketball coach, reminiscent of his role as a compassionate art teacher in the original film. He is seen alongside 10 debutant actors — Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
Fans took to social media to express their excitement, with comments like “1000 Cr Loading Amir Sir!!! Inshallah” and “Ready to sob.” Many were also thrilled that the musical trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is once again composing the soundtrack, with lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.
The film marks Aamir Khan’s return after a long hiatus and stars Genelia Deshmukh as the female lead. The screenplay is written by Divy Nidhi Sharma, and the project is produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit under Aamir Khan Productions, in collaboration with Ravi Bhagchandka.
What to Expect
According to early reports, Sitaare Zameen Par leans more into comedy than its predecessor, though it retains an emotional core. Actor-writer Kuldeep Gadhvi, who watched the trailer during its CBFC screening, called it “amazing” and highlighted Aamir Khan’s character “Gulshan” as a sharp contrast to the empathetic Nikumbh from Taare Zameen Par.
The trailer, which runs for 3 minutes and 29 seconds and received a UA certificate, features not just Aamir and Genelia but also Darsheel Safary, who is expected to make a special appearance. Supporting roles are played by Brijendra Kala, Rahul Kohli, Karim Hajee, Sonali Kulkarni, Amit Verma, Anup Kumar Mishra, and Suresh Menon.
With the return of Aamir Khan, a promising cast of newcomers, and a beloved music team, Sitaare Zameen Par is shaping up to be one of the most emotional and awaited films of 2024.
