Shekhar Suman Reflects Emotionally on Son's Passing, Recalls Struggles and Heartbreak

Actor Shekhar Suman recently opened up in an interview about the emotional journey surrounding the death of his son, Ayush Suman, revealing the deep pain and helplessness he felt during that time. Ayush, who battled Endomyocardial Fibrosis (EMF), passed away at the age of 11, leaving a lasting impact on Shekhar and his family.

During an interview with ABP News, Shekhar shared poignant memories of Ayush’s illness and the challenges they faced. He expressed his admiration for his wife, Alka, who remained strong despite the heartbreaking circumstances. Shekhar reflected on his father’s role in diagnosing Ayush’s condition and the anguish of not being able to save his son, despite exhausting every possible effort.

Describing Ayush’s diagnosis and subsequent struggle with EMF, Shekhar revealed that doctors had initially given Ayush just eight months to live. However, Ayush defied the odds and lived for four years, during which Shekhar and his family explored every avenue, from medical treatments to religious interventions, in a desperate attempt to save him. Shekhar emphasized the profound pain of losing a child, stating that the wound only grew deeper over time.

In a more recent development, Shekhar Suman and his younger son, Adhyayan Suman, collaborated in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.” The series delves into the lives of courtesans in pre-Independent India, with Shekhar portraying the character of Zulfilkar, patron to Manisha Koirala’s Mallikajaan, while Adhyayan plays a younger version of him along with another character. The series features a star-studded cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Sharmin Segal.
