AR Murugadoss’ action-packed drama Sikandar, starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, has officially entered the ₹200 crore club at the worldwide box office. Despite receiving lukewarm reviews and witnessing a slower-than-expected start, the film has shown consistent growth in its second week, particularly in overseas markets.
According to production house Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, Sikandar grossed ₹200.93 crore globally by its ninth day in theatres. On Monday alone, the film collected ₹2.48 crore gross in India and ₹1 crore overseas. Celebrating the milestone, the team shared on Instagram, “Thank you for making #Sikandar a part of your celebration. We’re grateful for the love.” Fans of the actor were thrilled with the update, with many calling it a “comeback” moment for Salman Khan.
Domestic Performance
Trade website Sacnilk reported that Sikandar earned ₹1.75 crore net in India on Monday, bringing its total net earnings to ₹104.25 crore. Its domestic gross collection now stands at ₹123.65 crore, with a national occupancy rate of 7.02% on Monday. This puts the film’s total worldwide earnings—by their estimate—at ₹171.65 crore, though the producer’s figures suggest the ₹200 crore mark has already been surpassed.
Comparison with Salman Khan’s Recent Releases
Sikandar has outperformed Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, which earned ₹158 crore globally in its first nine days. However, it still trails behind Salman’s Tiger 3, which raked in ₹384.45 crore in the same time span. Despite this, Sikandar is being hailed as one of the highest-grossing Indian films of the year, already ranking close to other major hits.
The film is currently chasing Sankranthiki Vasthunam (₹255.2 crore) and L2 Empuraan (₹257 crore+) and is expected to overtake Sankranthiki Vasthunam soon to secure the third spot. Chhaava, which leads the chart with over ₹800 crore, remains far ahead.
About the Film
Sikandar tells the story of Sanjay Rajkot (played by Salman Khan), a royal figure who locks horns with a corrupt politician, disrupting the latter’s reign and shaking up the political landscape. The film features an ensemble cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, Kishore, Jatin Sarna, and Sanjay Kapoor. While the film has been praised for its star power and commercial appeal, it faced criticism for its direction and uneven performances.
Nonetheless, Sikandar has defied early skepticism to emerge as a box office force, with strong fan support and a growing global collection.
