A chilling glimpse of Vicky Kaushal’s intense transformation for the climax of Chhaava has surfaced, thanks to prosthetic artiste Preetisheel Singh. The period drama, which narrates the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, has garnered ₹121 crore at the box office, with fans lauding Kaushal’s performance and the film’s attention to historical detail.
Singh took to Instagram on Saturday to share behind-the-scenes pictures from the sets, showcasing Kaushal in a brutally wounded avatar. One image shows the actor drenched in fake blood inside a vanity van, with prosthetic wounds and torn flesh giving him a horrifyingly realistic look. Another picture features him chained, bruised, and visibly tortured, adding to the gruesome portrayal of Sambhaji Maharaj’s final moments.
The post sparked reactions from fans, who praised the dedication of both the actor and the prosthetic team. “We did not see Vicky’s skills, we saw the protector of religion, Mahavir Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj,” commented one user. Another fan wrote, “Incredible work!!! Hats off to the makeup team. Jay Shambhuraje.”
Vicky Kaushal’s Toughest Role Yet
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava required Kaushal to undergo rigorous physical and mental preparation. In a recent interview with ANI, he called the role his “toughest yet,” admitting that portraying a historical figure of such stature demanded immense discipline.
“Playing such a historical figure requires a lot of discipline, and discipline is tough. If you are not used to it, it becomes very challenging because it’s not just a one-month commitment; it’s a commitment for one and a half to two years,” Kaushal shared.
The film, which minted ₹33.10 crore on its opening day in India, has been a box office success, solidifying Kaushal’s position as one of Bollywood’s most dedicated actors.
As audiences continue to appreciate the film’s authenticity and emotional depth, Chhaava remains a testament to both Kaushal’s commitment and the technical brilliance of the crew, particularly Singh’s prosthetic mastery.
