Sukumar’s Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, has been a box office juggernaut, grossing over ₹1831 crore worldwide. However, despite its massive success, the film’s infamous ‘Rappa Rappa’ climax fight scene has left the internet divided. Following its OTT release on Netflix on January 30, viewers took to Reddit and X (formerly Twitter) to express their reactions—many of which were filled with humor and disbelief.
Netizens React: ‘Is This Comedy or a Heroic Moment?’
While the film’s makers hyped the ‘Rappa Rappa’ fight as a standout action sequence, audiences on social media had a different take. A Reddit user questioned, “Is this supposed to be a mass heroic scene or a comedy scene?” Another sarcastically remarked, “I couldn’t stop laughing when he straight up launches himself into the air, moves around like a boomerang, and starts biting everybody while his hands and feet are bound.”
One joke that gained traction was, “This is how I wash clothes.” referring to Allu Arjun’s exaggerated aerial movements in the fight scene.
Another user compared the sequence to Prabhas’ ‘Kaateramma’ fight scene in Salaar, stating, “Pushpa 2 climax was more over the top. Salaar’s Kaateramma scene was worth it. It has a greater number of repeats than Rappa sequence of Pushpa. Nonetheless, AA did a great job. But for me, Kaateramma > Rappa.”
The Scene in Question: Logic-Defying Action or Creative Liberty?
For those unfamiliar, the Rappa Rappa scene in Pushpa 2: The Rule occurs after Pushpa’s niece is kidnapped, pushing him into a state where he fights like a possessed man. This is the second time the character exhibits such behavior, the first being the Jatara scene, where he dons a saree and jewelry after learning about Srivalli’s pregnancy.
The fight sequence, however, has been criticized for defying physics and logic, showing Pushpa fighting mid-air while tied up, a callback to a similar moment from Pushpa: The Rise.
What’s Next? Pushpa 3: The Rampage in the Works?
Despite the mixed reactions, Pushpa 2: The Rule ends by setting up Pushpa 3: The Rampage. However, no official confirmation has been made by the film’s team, except for hints dropped by music composer Devi Sri Prasad.
Whether fans loved it or cringed at it, Pushpa 2 has undeniably sparked conversations online. With its massive commercial success, all eyes are now on how the franchise shapes up for its next chapter.
