The 67th Grammy Awards took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, celebrating the biggest musical achievements of 2024. With 11 nominations, Beyoncé dominated the awards night and made history by becoming the first Black woman in 50 years to win a country music Grammy.

Beyoncé’s Historic Grammy Win

Beyoncé, nominated for her 2024 album Cowboy Carter, won Best Country Album, marking a groundbreaking moment in country music. She also bagged the Best Country Duo/Group Performance award for her collaboration “II Most Wanted” with Miley Cyrus.

Memorable Performances and Tributes

The Grammys also witnessed an emotional tribute from Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, who performed “California Dreamin’” by The Mamas & The Papas. Their performance was dedicated to the victims of the Southern California wildfires.

The duo also won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for Die With A Smile. In her acceptance speech, Lady Gaga spoke in support of the LGBTQ+ community, stating:

“Trans people are not invisible. Trans people deserve love. The queer community deserves to be lifted up. Music is love.”

Will Smith also made a powerful appearance to pay tribute to the legendary Quincy Jones, in what was one of the ceremony’s most impactful moments.

Indian-American Chandrika Tandon Wins Grammy

Indian-American vocalist and entrepreneur Chandrika Tandon won a Grammy in the Best New Age, Ambient or Chant Album category for her album Triveni. This marked her first Grammy win after being nominated for Soul Call in 2009.

She was nominated alongside:

  • Ricky Kej (Break of Dawn)

  • Anoushka Shankar (Chapter II: How Dark It Is Before Dawn)
  • Radhika Vekaria (Warriors of Light)

Expressing her gratitude, Chandrika Tandon said:
“We had such wonderful nominees in the category. The fact that we won this is really an extra special moment for us.”

Lifetime Achievement Award for Prince

Five years after the Grammys paid tribute to the late music icon Prince, the legendary artist was posthumously honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Tribute to Liam Payne

Coldplay’s Chris Martin paid an emotional tribute to One Direction member Liam Payne during the Grammys’ “In Memoriam” segment. The heartfelt moment honored the singer’s contribution to music.
