Bollywood Director Ashwini Dhir’s 18-Year-Old Son Dies in Tragic Car Accident

Jalaj Dhir, the 18-year-old son of Bollywood director Ashwini Dhir, lost his life in a devastating car accident on November 23. The crash occurred on the Vile Parle highway in Mumbai, claiming the lives of Jalaj and his friend, Sarthak Kaushik. Two others, including the driver, survived but faced legal and medical consequences.

The Tragic Incident

Reports reveal that Jalaj was traveling with three friends when their car, driven by Sahil Mendha, collided with a divider at a speed of 120-150 mph. Authorities confirmed that Sahil was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. The group had been at a house party in Goregaon East, playing video games until 3 a.m., before deciding to go for a drive.

After the crash, Jimmy, one of the friends in the car, alerted the police. Sahil, who survived the accident, is now in police custody.

A Life Cut Short

Jalaj was set to accompany his father, Ashwini Dhir, to the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, where Ashwini’s latest film Hisaab Barabar premiered. The untimely tragedy has cast a shadow over the family, who are grappling with the sudden loss.

Ashwini Dhir, known for his films like Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge and Son of Sardar, had recently completed Hisaab Barabar, a movie addressing corruption and systemic injustice, featuring R. Madhavan in the lead role.

Industry Reaction

R. Madhavan expressed his pride in the film’s premiere at IFFI, calling it a significant milestone for Indian cinema. Speaking to ANI, Madhavan said, “It’s a matter of great pride that it premiered at IFFI, which has gained a stature over the years. Congratulations to the entire team of IFFI, the government of Goa, and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry for making it such a globally recognized event.”

Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation

Sahil Mendha’s reckless driving and intoxicated state have brought the issue of road safety and responsible behavior to the forefront. Authorities are investigating the accident thoroughly, with legal proceedings underway.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of driving under the influence, leaving two families in mourning and highlighting the importance of road safety measures.
