Vikrant Massey Dismisses Possibility of 12th Fail Sequel: "I Really Don't See a Part Two"

In a recent interview, Vikrant Massey addressed the buzz surrounding a potential sequel to his acclaimed film 12th Fail, revealing that he does not foresee a continuation of the story.

12th Fail, released in October 2023, was a critical success and showcased Massey in the role of real-life IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma. The biographical drama received widespread acclaim and won five Filmfare Awards, including Best Film and Best Actor (Critics). The film’s success led to significant fan demand for a sequel.

However, in a conversation with India Today, Massey made it clear that he does not envision a second installment of 12th Fail. “Now, I’m getting a lot of calls, people are saying let’s do another 12th Fail, but I’m making a conscious shift to pick something different,” Massey said. He acknowledged the strong desire from fans for a follow-up but emphasized his commitment to exploring new projects.

Massey explained that while the first film left room for further exploration of the characters’ lives, he personally does not see a sequel happening. “If I may say so, I really don’t see a 12th Fail part two (happening). Do people want it? Yes. But is that the right thing? I mean, that is a collective decision that all of us have to take,” he added.

The actor’s next project is Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, set to premiere on Netflix on August 9. This film is a sequel to the 2021 hit Hasseen Dillruba and features Massey alongside Taapsee Pannu and Sunny Kaushal, directed by Jayprad Desai. Massey’s decision to move on from 12th Fail reflects his interest in diversifying his roles and exploring new cinematic territories.

Fans of 12th Fail will have to wait and see if the demand for a sequel influences future decisions, but for now, Massey is focused on his upcoming projects and continuing to evolve as an actor.
