Sanjay Dutt Calls for Unity in Bollywood, Says Film Industry Has 'Gone Off Track'

Veteran actor Sanjay Dutt has expressed concern over the current state of the film industry, saying that Bollywood is no longer the united family it once was. While promoting his upcoming horror-comedy The Bhootnii, Dutt made an emotional appeal for togetherness and equal support for all films, regardless of their scale or star power.

Speaking at the launch event of the film’s new song Aaye Re Baba, Dutt shared his disappointment with how the industry has become fragmented. “Dukh hota hai ki industry aise batt chuki hai jo maine kabhi dekha nahi tha. Humlog ek family the, aur hamesha rahenge, thoda bhatak gaye hai,” he said. (It is disheartening that the industry has been divided in a way I had never seen before. We were a family and always will be, but we’ve lost our way a bit.)

Dutt emphasized the importance of giving every film a fair chance, saying, “Har picture important hoti hai is industry ke liye, and har picture ko mauka dena chahiye.” (Every film is important for the industry and should be given an equal opportunity.) He urged cinema owners and distributors to support all kinds of films equally.

The Bhootnii Lacks Promotional Push, Says Dutt

The actor also admitted that his own film The Bhootnii hasn’t received the level of promotion it deserves. “Chalo Bhootnii ko itna zor nahi diya ja raha hai lekin mujhe pata hai ye picture bahut aage niklegi,” he said, expressing confidence in the film’s success despite the lack of buzz.

Directed by Sidhaant Sachdev, The Bhootnii stars Sanjay Dutt alongside Mouni Roy, Palak Tiwari, Sunny Singh, Asif Khan, and YouTuber BeYouNick. The film was initially set to release on April 18 but has been rescheduled for a May 1 release. It is co-produced by Hunar Mukut and Maanayata Dutt.

Dutt’s remarks come at a time when several insiders have spoken about the growing disconnect within the industry. With his heartfelt plea, the actor hopes to inspire unity and mutual support among filmmakers, actors, and distributors to ensure the industry thrives as a whole.
