Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, who has helmed the Krrish franchise since its inception, has confirmed that he will not be directing Krrish 4. In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, the director revealed that he wants to pass on the responsibility to a new filmmaker, ensuring the franchise continues with fresh vision.
Rakesh Roshan on Letting Go of Direction
Without disclosing who will take over, Roshan stated, “The day has to come when I have to pass on the baton. So, it’s better I do it when I am in my senses, so that I can oversee the process and ascertain whether it’s being done correctly or not. Tomorrow, if I am not in my senses and I have to pass it on, I will not know what they are making.”
Dismissing any disappointment over his decision, he added, “There’s no guarantee that if Rakesh Roshan directs Krrish 4, it’ll be a blockbuster. It might be the other way round as well.”
The Krrish Franchise and Future of Krrish 4
Rakesh Roshan began the franchise with Koi Mil Gaya (2003), a sci-fi film that laid the foundation for Bollywood’s first superhero series. This was followed by Krrish (2006) and Krrish 3 (2013), all featuring Hrithik Roshan in the lead. Priyanka Chopra starred in the last two films alongside him.
While no official announcement has been made about Krrish 4, reports suggest that a script has been finalized. Fans are eagerly awaiting further updates on the next installment.
Hrithik Roshan’s Upcoming Projects
Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan is currently filming War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji. The film, which also stars NTR Jr and Kiara Advani, is a much-anticipated sequel in the YRF Spy Universe. Hrithik recently suffered a knee injury while shooting a dance sequence for the film but is expected to resume work soon.
