Alia Bhatt’s action-adventure film Jigra continues to experience a drop in its box office performance. On Day 5 (October 15), the film collected ₹1.60 crore, bringing its total domestic earnings to ₹19.85 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The movie, directed by Vasan Bala, had a Hindi occupancy rate of 10.68% on its first Tuesday.
Jigra, which hit theaters on October 11, faces stiff competition from Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri. Despite the star power of Alia Bhatt and co-star Vedang Raina, the film has struggled to maintain strong momentum at the box office.
The movie, produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Alia Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions, also stars Ankur Khanna, Manoj Pahwa, Akansha Ranjan, Rahul Ravindran, Vivek Gomber, and Harssh Singh in key roles.
Before the film’s release, the makers held a special screening in Mumbai, attended by Alia Bhatt, her sister Shaheen Bhatt, and Vedang Raina. Also present were Vedang’s rumored girlfriend, actress Khushi Kapoor, and Alia’s mother-in-law, veteran star Neetu Kapoor. Karan Johar, along with other celebrities like Radhika Madan, Rashmika Mandanna, and Abhimanyu Dasani, also graced the event.
Vedang Raina, who plays the role of Alia Bhatt’s brother in Jigra, made waves for his performance of the song Phoolon Ka Taaro Ka in the film. In an interview with Lallantop, Vedang shared that he was inspired by Ranbir Kapoor’s lip-sync skills, particularly from the film Rockstar. He expressed his admiration for Ranbir’s ability to lip-sync convincingly despite not being an actual singer.
“Ranbir’s lip-syncing is just brilliant. I’ve always been his biggest fan. I even tried to recreate his style in Jigra, although in a slightly exaggerated way,” Vedang said.
With mixed box office results so far, it remains to be seen whether Jigra will pick up in the coming days or continue to see a downward trend.
