After a hiatus from Bollywood, actor Fawad Khan is gearing up for a comeback with a new Hindi romantic-comedy alongside Vaani Kapoor. According to reports by news agency IANS, the film will be shot entirely in the UK and is helmed by director Aarti Bagdi.
The project, which remains untitled for now, promises to capitalize on Fawad Khan’s immense popularity across South Asian communities worldwide. A trade source revealed, “Fawad Khan has a massive international pull given his popularity among South Asians worldwide. He has also been a part of the Marvel cinematic universe. Details of this project are being kept under wraps, and everyone is tight-lipped about it.”
Describing the storyline, the source added, “The romantic comedy narrates the story of how two broken people meet by a stroke of luck and end up helping each other, unintentionally falling in love.”
Fawad Khan, known for his roles in Bollywood films like “Khoobsurat” and “Kapoor & Sons,” humorously addressed industry dynamics in a recent interview. When asked about his presence in the Hindi film industry being perceived as a threat, he remarked, “I got a lot of love from India, but look, every industry has its politics. In Pakistan as well. But it’s easier to combat in your industry.”
Meanwhile, Fawad Khan’s upcoming projects include the series “Barzakh,” where he reunites with “Zindagi Gulzar Hai” co-star Sanam Saeed. Additionally, he will headline Netflix’s first Pakistan-themed original series, “Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo,” alongside Mahira Khan and Sanam Saeed, adapted from Farhat Ishtiaq’s novel.
Vaani Kapoor, on the other hand, is recognized for her roles in “Shuddh Desi Romance,” “Befikre,” and recently “Bell Bottom” and “Shamshera.” She is set to appear in upcoming films like “Khel Khel Mein” and “Badtameez Gill.”
Fawad Khan’s return to Bollywood alongside Vaani Kapoor in an international setting underscores the anticipation among fans for his comeback. The UK-shot romantic comedy is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the genre, tapping into the chemistry between the lead actors.
