Fugitive Indian businessman Vijay Mallya made a notable appearance at his son Sidhartha Mallya’s wedding to Jasmine in the United Kingdom. The wedding, held on June 22, featured a luxurious menu that included Mallya’s famous Kingfisher beer.
The event, shared on social media by fashion designer Manoviraj Khosla, showcased the menu, which included items like kadi patta burrata, pan-fried Atlantic sea bass, and Kingfisher beer. Khosla shared a picture of the menu on his Instagram Story with the caption, “Nothing like a Kingfisher in London.”
Sidhartha Mallya and Jasmine tied the knot in an intimate twin ceremony. Celebrating their union, Sidhartha shared wedding photos on Instagram, captioning one, “MR & Mrs Muppet.” One of the pictures showed the newlyweds holding hands moments after the ceremony. Earlier in the week, Sidhartha hinted at the upcoming wedding by posting a picture with his fiancée, captioned “Wedding week has commenced.”
Vijay Mallya, known as “The King of Good Times,” fled India in March 2016 amid charges of money laundering and defaulting on loans. Mallya made his fortune with Kingfisher beer before expanding into the airline and Formula 1 industries. Kingfisher Airlines, launched in 2003, began commercial operations in 2005 but ceased operations in 2012 due to mounting debt and losses. In July 2022, the Supreme Court of India sentenced Mallya to four months in jail, but extradition attempts have so far been unsuccessful.
The wedding of Sidhartha and Jasmine, marked by the presence of Vijay Mallya and the serving of Kingfisher beer, has caught public attention, blending personal celebration with the ongoing legal saga surrounding the Mallya family.
