In the latest development amid ongoing divorce rumors, Nikhil Patel, the NRI husband of TV actor Dalljiet Kaur, has issued a legal notice to her following her recent Instagram posts accusing him of extramarital affairs. According to a report by ETimes, Patel, a Kenya-based businessman who tied the knot with Dalljiet in Mumbai in March 2023, has decided to take legal action against her claims.
Patel has reportedly sent Kaur a ‘written cease and desist letter,’ emphasizing that he will not tolerate any further harassment. He has also warned that his legal team will pursue the ‘sternest legal action available’ should she continue with her ‘unlawful actions.’
“As a normal citizen of the world, it is very disturbing to see how the gaps in online protection laws, both in India and globally, can, and are, often exploited by those who choose to gain cheap media attention through careless actions that place innocent children and women at risk,” Patel stated.
Patel expressed concerns over Kaur’s recent social media activities, particularly her sharing of pictures and video footage without consent, which he labeled as ‘illegal and negligent.’ He pointed out the vulnerability of children involved in such posts, highlighting the need for legal protection for them. This comment was a reference to their wedding video, which Kaur shared on Instagram but later deleted.
Adding to the ongoing discord, Patel revealed that his team has contacted Kaur to collect her remaining belongings from his home in Kenya by June. Failing which, he warned, the items would be donated to charity. “I have no obligation to store them for her and have requested her on several occasions to collect the same,” Patel said.
In a candid interview with ETimes, Patel spoke about the breakdown of their marriage, confirming the split and addressing the extramarital affair allegations. “In January this year, Dalljiet decided to leave Kenya with her son Jaydon and return to India, which ultimately led to our separation,” he explained. “We both realized that the foundation of our blended family wasn’t as strong as we had hoped, making it hard for Dalljiet to settle in Kenya.”
Patel also clarified that their Indian wedding ceremony in March 2023, although culturally significant, was not legally binding. “This ceremony was intended to reassure Dalljiet’s family about her move to Kenya,” he added.
Speculation about their divorce began in February 2024 after both Kaur and Patel unfollowed each other on Instagram and deleted posts related to their relationship. Kaur recently fueled the rumors by posting a poll on Instagram Stories, asking her followers about extramarital affairs and who should be blamed.
As the situation between Dalljiet Kaur and Nikhil Patel continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the legal actions and public accusations will impact their relationship and public perception. The estranged couple’s private turmoil has now become a matter of public discourse, highlighting the complex dynamics of modern relationships in the digital age.
