Vijay Deverakonda's Team Files Police Complaint Against Trolls Targeting Actor and "Family Star"

Over the weekend, actor Vijay Deverakonda’s team took a decisive step against online trolls by filing a police complaint in Hyderabad.

The complaint, filed by Vijay Deverakonda’s manager and the president of his fans’ club, was directed at individuals engaging in orchestrated attacks and negative campaigns against the actor and his recent movie “Family Star.” The complaint, lodged with the Cyberabad Police in Madhapur, Hyderabad, addresses the impact of these trolling activities on the film’s performance at the box office.

A representative for Vijay Deverakonda shared the development on social media, highlighting the Cyber Crime Complaint against those involved in planned negative campaigns targeting “Family Star” and Vijay Deverakonda. The police have initiated action to trace fake IDs and users involved in these campaigns.

In response to the negativity surrounding “Family Star,” producer Dil Raju expressed his dismay at the situation. Speaking to TV9, he emphasized that despite the online backlash, the film has been well-received by the family audience. Dil Raju also raised concerns about the impact of negative reviews on producers and suggested measures similar to those being debated in Kerala to curb reviews during the initial days of a film’s release.

“Family Star,” directed by Parasuram Petla, marks Vijay Deverakonda’s second collaboration with the director after the success of “Geetha Govindam” in 2018. The film also features Mrunal Thakur in her third Telugu outing after “Sita Ramam” and “Hi Nanna.” Despite mixed reviews from critics and fans, “Family Star” managed to gross approximately ₹11.95 crore at the box office within three days of its release, according to sacnilk.com.

The complaint and Dil Raju’s remarks reflect the ongoing discussions within the industry regarding the impact of online trolling and negative reviews on films and their stakeholders.
