Trivikram Srinivas’ much-anticipated action drama, “Guntur Kaaram,” starring Mahesh Babu and Sreeleela, is set to make its digital debut on Netflix after its theatrical release on January 12. The film, which initially hit theaters for Sankranthi, is gearing up for a digital release this week, offering audiences another opportunity to witness the Rowdy Ramana’s thrilling journey.
Despite facing tough competition at the box office, with releases like HanuMan, Saindhav, Naa Saami Ranga, Captain Miller, and Ayalaan, “Guntur Kaaram” performed well, particularly in Andhra Pradesh. The film has reportedly collected around ₹124.82 crore net in India within 23 days, and its global earnings stand at approximately ₹177.67 crore.
Netflix has announced that “Guntur Kaaram” will be available in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi on February 9, just ahead of Valentine’s week. The streaming giant shared the news on Instagram, stating, “It is about to get very hot in here because Rowdy Ramana is here and he is on fire. Guntur Kaaram, coming to Netflix on 9 February in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. #GunturKaaramOnNetflix.”
Trivikram and Mahesh Babu’s collaboration in “Guntur Kaaram” marks their third venture together after “Athadu” and “Khaleja.” Despite mixed reviews upon its theatrical release, the film gained momentum, maintaining stability during the Sankranthi period. The narrative revolves around Ramana (Mahesh), a rowdy businessman from Guntur, leading an estranged life from his mother (Ramya Krishnan), a soon-to-be politician. The story unfolds as his grandfather (Prakash Raj) urges him to sever ties with his mother, propelling Ramana to seek the truth behind her abandonment 25 years ago.
While Sreeleela portrays Ramana’s love interest and Meenakshi Chaudhary assumes the role of his cousin, fans were taken by surprise as the film, initially marketed as a mass entertainer, revealed a family drama aspect. Thaman S’s music for the film, except for “Dum Masala,” received mixed reviews for not meeting expectations.
As “Guntur Kaaram” gears up for its digital premiere on Netflix, audiences eagerly anticipate the Rowdy Ramana’s digital debut, expecting the action-packed narrative to captivate viewers across multiple languages.
