Sony Entertainment Television has taken a stand against the circulation of manipulated content involving its popular game show, Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). In a recent Instagram post, the network expressed its condemnation of fabricated videos and affirmed its active engagement with the cybercrime cell to address this issue.
The network’s statement emphasized, “Certain manipulated videos from our show Kaun Banega Crorepati have surfaced, featuring distorted voiceovers of the host and contestants, presenting a misleading version of the original content. We strongly denounce such misinformation and urge viewers to refrain from sharing unverified content.”
A particular clip shared by Sony TV showed a fake voiceover of Amitabh Bachchan posing a controversial question about Kamal Nath, the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. The clip, which was not synchronized with Amitabh’s actual voice, raised misleading questions about a farmer loan waiver during Nath’s tenure. Sony TV labeled these videos as manipulated and misleading.
This incident isn’t isolated, as Sony TV had previously flagged another fake video featuring Amitabh Bachchan’s voiceover, this time presenting a defamatory question about current Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. These fabricated videos aim to present false information through the iconic show, KBC, now in its 15th season.
