Delhi Court Grants Divorce to Singer Honey Singh, Ends 13-Year Marriage with Shalini Talwar

In a significant legal development, a Delhi court has granted divorce to renowned singer and rapper Honey Singh and his wife, Shalini Talwar, officially ending their 13-year-long marriage. The decision marks the conclusion of a complex legal battle that spanned nearly two and a half years.

Principal Judge of the Family Court, Paramjit Singh, approved the second motion filed in the case, bringing an end to the protracted litigation. Under the Hindu Marriage Act, a second motion is initiated after a waiting period of six to 18 months following the initial filing for divorce. This interval, known as the interregnum, is designed to allow both parties to contemplate their decision to seek divorce.

Honey Singh and Shalini Talwar, who had been married since January 2011, mutually submitted a divorce petition in September 2022, after 11 years of marriage. The family court accepted their petition and granted a six-month interregnum period for reflection.

Advocate Ishan Mukherjee, representing Honey Singh, confirmed, “The second motion has been granted, and the divorce decree has been issued.” However, he refrained from providing further details, citing the private and confidential nature of matrimonial matters. Advocate Vivek Singh, counsel for Shalini Talwar, similarly declined to comment, acknowledging the matter’s sensitivity as a matrimonial issue.

It’s worth noting that in August 2021, Shalini Talwar had filed a case of domestic violence against Honey Singh in Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court. In response, the singer took to social media to vehemently deny the allegations, labeling them as “odious,” “false,” and “malicious.” Subsequently, the allegations were withdrawn following a settlement between the parties.

The exact terms of the settlement between Honey Singh and Shalini Talwar have not been disclosed by the court. This legal resolution marks the end of a tumultuous chapter in their lives and paves the way for their separate journeys ahead.

As news of the divorce surfaces, it serves as a reminder of the complexities and challenges that often underlie high-profile relationships. While the legal battle may have come to an end, both parties are now free to move forward with their lives independently.
