Over two decades after the iconic release of “Indian,” Kamal Haasan is gearing up for his return as the vigilant patriot ‘Senapathy’ in the highly anticipated sequel, “Indian 2.” The teaser for the film was unveiled recently, and it has garnered praise from some of the biggest names in the Indian film industry.
Kamal Haasan’s long-time friend and fellow superstar, Rajinikanth, led the chorus of appreciation by sharing the “Indian 2” teaser on his social media platforms. He accompanied it with a heartfelt note, stating, “Vanakkam India, Indian is back… Presenting Indian-2 An Intro.” Kamal Haasan reciprocated the gesture with gratitude, replying, “Thank you for your love my friend, superstar.”
“Indian 2” marks the reunion of Kamal Haasan with the acclaimed filmmaker S Shankar, who also directed the original “Indian” in 1996. The first installment featured Kamal Haasan alongside Sukanya, Manisha Koirala, and Goundamani in pivotal roles.
Rajinikanth was not the only one extending a warm welcome to Kamal Haasan’s return. Veteran South Indian actor Mohanlal, one of the biggest names in the Malayalam film industry, also shared the Malayalam version of the “Indian 2” teaser. In his message, he wrote, “Namaskaram India, Indian is back… Presenting Indian-2 An Intro.”
Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, known for his discerning taste in films, shared a note in support of Kamal Haasan and the “Indian 2” team. He posted a poster of the film and wrote, “Wishing Kamal Sir, Mr. Shankar Shanmugam, Mr. Subhaskaran, and the entire team of Hindustani 2, all the very best for their film. May Hindustani 2 win the hearts of, not just every Indian, but of every World-Citizen ‘too’!!! Love. Aamir Khan.”
The recently released teaser for “Indian 2” picks up where the first film concluded. It begins with a ringing phone, and Kamal Haasan’s character, Senapathy, pledges to return whenever injustice rears its head. True to his word, Senapathy embarks on a mission to eradicate corruption and injustice. The teaser has ignited excitement among fans with the hashtag “Come Back Indian” gaining momentum. Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, and Kajal Agarwal make appearances in the teaser, providing a glimpse of the film’s ensemble cast.
