Shah Rukh Khan Receives Y+ Security Cover Amid Death Threats After 'Pathaan' and 'Jawan' Success

Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, also known as the “King of Bollywood,” has been provided with Y+ security cover by the Mumbai Police in response to recent death threats he received. The threats came in the wake of his remarkable success with the films ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan.’

Under this upgraded security arrangement, Shah Rukh Khan will now be accompanied by six armed security personnel at all times, a substantial increase from the two security personnel he previously had. The decision to enhance Khan’s security came after he alerted the Maharashtra government to the death threats he had been receiving, prompting swift action to safeguard the popular actor.

Shah Rukh Khan, who has a history of standing up to threats, has had previous encounters with the Mumbai underworld. He is renowned for his unwavering determination and resilience. Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta recently took to social media to commend Khan for his dedication in overcoming challenges, including threats from gangsters.

Gupta recalled a bold statement made by Shah Rukh Khan during the 90s when the underworld’s influence in the film industry was at its peak. “Back in the 90s when the underworld bullying of film stars was at its peak, Shah Rukh Khan was THE ONLY star who never gave in. ‘Goli marni hai mar do, par tumhaare liye kaam nahin karoonga. Main Pathan hoon (shoot me if you want to, but I won’t work for you, I am a Pathan),’ he said. He’s the same today,” Mr. Gupta posted on social media.

It’s worth noting that the Y+ security cover is provided to individuals who face a credible threat to their life. Under the Maharashtra government’s policy, citizens eligible for such security arrangements are required to pay a fee or deposit a security amount for the protection provided.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Y+ security cover serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by public figures in the entertainment industry and the importance of ensuring their safety in the face of potential threats. The Mumbai Police’s prompt response underscores their commitment to the safety of all citizens, especially those in the public eye.
