First-ever cinematic tribute to BSF screened for jawans; film to release on April 25, 2025

In a historic and heartfelt gesture, the upcoming film Ground Zero, starring Emraan Hashmi, was screened exclusively for Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in Srinagar on Friday. The special premiere was attended by the film’s cast and crew, and served as an emotional tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of India’s BSF officers.

Emraan Hashmi, who plays the lead role of BSF Commandant Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, was present at the screening alongside his co-star Sai Tamhankar, who plays his wife. Director Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, and producers Ritesh Sidhwani with wife Dolly Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar with wife Shibani Dandekar, and co-producer Arhan Bagati, also joined the event, marking a rare moment where reel met real at the very ground the film is inspired by.

Produced under the banner of Excel Entertainment, Ground Zero is set in the early 2000s in Kashmir and revolves around a high-stakes operation led by Commandant Dubey to eliminate terrorist mastermind Ghazi Baba. The film, which is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 25, 2025, is billed as the first-ever cinematic tribute solely dedicated to the Border Security Force.

Speaking with ANI, Hashmi highlighted the emotional and historical weight of the film. “This is the first time a film has been made solely to honour the BSF. We’ve seen many stories based on the Army and police, but Ground Zero shines a light on the often overlooked courage of BSF officers. That, in itself, is a significant milestone,” he said.

The actor also stressed that Ground Zero goes beyond being just a film. “It’s a mission that played a crucial role in safeguarding the nation. The story deserves to be told — and more importantly — it deserves to be seen. It’s a defining operation in India’s national security history,” he added.

The premiere in Srinagar, attended by the very men and women the film pays tribute to, added a deeply emotional resonance to the event, as the real-life BSF jawans watched their stories brought to life on screen.

The film is co-produced by Kassim Jagmagia, Vishal Ramchandani, Sundeep C Sidhwani, Arhan Bagati, Talisman Films, Abhishek Kumar, and Nishikant Roy.

As anticipation builds for its release next year, Ground Zero is already being hailed as a landmark project in Indian cinema for spotlighting the unsung heroes of the nation’s borders.
