Security Heightened at Actor’s Residence Amid Renewed Threats Allegedly Linked to Bishnoi Gang
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has received fresh death threats via WhatsApp, almost exactly a year after unidentified individuals opened fire outside his residence, Galaxy Apartments, in Bandra. The alarming message was sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police helpline on Sunday evening and included chilling statements such as “I will barge into his house” and “blow up Salman Khan’s car with a bomb.”
Following the threat, the Worli police registered a First Information Report (FIR) on Monday under Section 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, against an unidentified person. The investigation is currently being handled by both the Worli police and the Mumbai Crime Branch.
Officials confirmed that the threat mentioned specific plans to kill the actor by reaching his Bandra home and detonating an explosive device in his SUV. Given Khan’s history with threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the message triggered serious concern among law enforcement. Security has been significantly tightened around Galaxy Apartments.
“The sender threatened to kill the actor by reaching his Bandra residence and also threatened to detonate a bomb in his SUV,” an officer from the Worli police station stated.
The fresh threats appear to be linked to long-standing hostility from the Bishnoi gang, which stems from the 1998 blackbuck poaching case in Rajasthan. The Bishnoi community holds the blackbuck sacred and believes Khan played a central role in the incident, fueling ongoing resentment.
This latest threat comes a year after the audacious April 14, 2024, attack when two unidentified assailants on motorcycles fired five to six rounds outside Galaxy Apartments at around 4:55 AM. Khan and his parents were home during the incident but were unharmed.
In the aftermath of that attack, Anmol Bishnoi — the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi — claimed responsibility on social media and issued a stern warning: “Salman Khan, do not take us lightly. This is the first and last warning. After this, the firing will happen at your home.”
Authorities are now on high alert, and multiple agencies are collaborating to identify and apprehend the individual behind the latest threats.
