'Sanam Teri Kasam' Sets Record for Biggest Bollywood Re-Release Weekend, Outperforms Badass Ravikumar, Loveyapa

The romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, has stunned the box office with its re-release, collecting ₹18.50 crore in just four days. The 2016 film, which originally struggled during its theatrical run, has now become the highest-grossing Bollywood re-release, surpassing new films like Badass Ravikumar and Loveyapa.

Strong Box Office Performance

Re-released on February 7, Sanam Teri Kasam saw an extraordinary response from audiences. According to Sacnilk, the film earned ₹3-3.25 crore on Monday alone, outshining the combined Monday total of Sky Force (₹0.45 crore), Deva (₹0.50 crore), Badass Ravikumar (₹0.60 crore), and Loveyapa (₹0.60 crore). With a total collection of ₹18.50 crore in four days—more than double its original domestic earnings—the film has solidified its unexpected comeback.

Bigger Than Competing Releases

Over the weekend, the film collected ₹15.50 crore net, making it the biggest Bollywood re-release to date. It even outperformed Badass Ravikumar (₹6.75 crore) and Loveyapa (₹5.15 crore), earning more than both films combined. Given the Valentine’s week sentiment, the film is expected to maintain its strong run at the box office.

Harshvardhan Rane Reacts to the Success

Speaking to Free Press Journal, lead actor Harshvardhan Rane shared his excitement:
“It is a very soothing feeling. This makes you believe in what Shah Rukh Khan sir said in Om Shanti Om, ‘Agar sab thik na ho toh woh the end nahi hai, picture abhi baaki hai mere dost.’ After nine years of trying, failing, and still trying again, this success feels like a soothing ointment.”

About Sanam Teri Kasam

Originally released in 2016, Sanam Teri Kasam was directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru. Produced by Deepak Mukut, the film featured Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane in their Bollywood debuts, alongside Anurag Sinha, Manish Chaudhari, Murli Sharma, and Sudesh Berry. Despite failing at the box office upon its initial release, the film gained a loyal fan base over the years, which has now translated into a successful re-release.

With its impressive performance, Sanam Teri Kasam proves that some films find their true audience over time, making its re-release a moment of redemption for both the cast and the makers.
