Subhash Ghai, widely regarded as one of the most influential filmmakers in Indian cinema, has been a major part of the industry for decades. His filmography includes timeless classics like Kalicharan, Karz, Hero, Vidhaata, Meri Jung, Karma, Ram Lakhan, Taal, and Saudagar. His last directorial project was Kaanchi, released in 2014.
In a recent development, Ghai had released his memoir titled Karma’s Child last month at the National Centre for the Performing Arts. Co-written with Suveen Sinha and published by HarperCollins, the book delves into Ghai’s experiences in the film industry. In a statement to PTI, the filmmaker reflected on his career, acknowledging both the highs and lows of his journey. He expressed how his perspective on his work has evolved, stating, “When I was making those films, I was thinking it was nice, but when an upcoming generation compliments your films, you know it’s not the market. Back then it was a market, and now it is real admiration. I feel the genuine admiration has started now.”
