The screening of Allu Arjun’s much-anticipated sequel Pushpa 2: The Rule was abruptly halted at Gaiety Galaxy Theatre in Bandra last night after an unknown substance was sprayed, causing chaos among movie-goers.
Several attendees reported coughing and throat irritation, prompting the screening to be stopped. A video from the incident showed panicked viewers covering their faces and exiting the hall. In the clip, a man could be heard saying, “The movie has been stopped. Someone sprayed something and everyone is coughing.”
Police arrived at the scene to investigate the matter, but no formal case was registered as of now. The source and nature of the substance remain unknown, leaving fans shaken and disappointed.
This incident follows a tragic stampede during the Pushpa 2 premiere at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad just a day earlier. A massive crowd gathered unexpectedly after Allu Arjun appeared at the theatre without prior notice. The stampede claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman and left her nine-year-old son hospitalized due to asphyxiation.
Police have charged Allu Arjun, his security team, and the Sandhya Theatre management under Sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. However, neither the actor nor the theatre management has commented on the incident yet.
Pushpa 2: The Rule, directed by Sukumar, features Allu Arjun reprising his role as Pushpa, alongside Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil. The film charts Pushpa’s rise from a laborer to a smuggling kingpin.
