Palak Sidhwani, best known for her role as Sonu Bhide in the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma (TMKOC), has come forward with serious allegations against the production house, claiming they are making her exit from the show difficult.
In a recent interview with Bombay Times, Sidhwani revealed that she received a legal notice from Neela Film Productions, which accuses her of breaching her contract by engaging in unauthorized third-party endorsements and appearances. The actor stated that her decision to leave the show stemmed from personal health reasons and the desire for professional growth.
“I informed the production house about my decision to quit on August 8,” Palak explained. “They took time to respond, telling me I would receive an official email to submit my resignation. However, that email never arrived, and weeks later, I saw media reports claiming I had breached my contract.”
Sidhwani emphasized the lack of transparency from the production team, stating, “I signed their contract five years ago, and they denied giving me a copy of it. I only received a copy on September 19, 2024.” According to her, the production house had previously allowed her to pursue brand endorsements, but after announcing her intention to leave, they changed their stance.
“I have taken legal advice and will follow what’s right for my career,” she added. “I wanted to quit the show for health reasons and professional growth. Despite multiple meetings, no resolution has been reached. This feels like exploitation, and I never expected this after working with them for five years. Just because I want to quit Taarak Mehta, they are making my exit difficult.”
