In a shocking incident in Maharashtra’s Solapur, stand-up comedian Pranit More was allegedly assaulted by a group of men claiming to be fans of Bollywood debutante Veer Pahariya. The attack took place on Sunday evening following More’s performance at 24K Kraft Brewzz, a local restaurant. According to More’s team, the group of 11-12 men physically assaulted him after he made jokes about Veer Pahariya during his act.
The team reported that the men, led by one Tanveer Shaikh, aggressively beat More, punching and kicking him repeatedly. They further claimed that the attackers made it clear that the violence was a direct response to the comedian’s jokes about Pahariya. One of the assailants even allegedly threatened More, saying, “Agli Baar Veer Pahariya baba pe joke maarke dikha!” (Next time, try making a joke about Veer Pahariya). This was described as a warning that any future jokes on the actor would result in even harsher consequences.
Pranit More’s team also pointed out that the show’s venue, 24K Kraft Brewzz, lacked proper security measures, and despite requesting access to CCTV footage, the management denied the request. They further accused the police of not responding to their distress calls during the incident.
In a reaction to the incident, Veer Pahariya expressed his shock and apologized to the comedian. The actor, who made his debut in Sky Force alongside Akshay Kumar, condemned the assault and clarified that he had no involvement in the attack. “Shocked and deeply saddened by what happened, Pranit. I want to make it absolutely clear that I had no involvement in this and strongly condemn any form of violence. I will do whatever I can to ensure those responsible are held accountable,” Pahariya wrote in the comments section of a social media post.
The venue, 24K Kraft Brewzz, also issued a statement clarifying that the event was organized by an external artist management team and not the restaurant. They expressed their sadness over the incident and emphasized their commitment to safety. “We do not condone violence in any form,” the venue stated. “We are fully cooperating with all parties to ensure a safe environment for everyone.”
After the incident gained widespread attention, the Solapur police summoned Pranit More to record his statement, but he failed to appear for questioning. Consequently, a case has been registered based on a complaint filed by the restaurant owner where More had performed.
The assault has sparked concerns about the increasing intolerance toward humor and satire, especially when it involves celebrities. The case has garnered attention on social media, with many expressing their shock and disappointment at the violent reaction to a comedian’s joke.
Authorities are now looking into the matter, and the investigation is underway. More details are expected to emerge as the case develops.
